Chaska Curling Center to Host Five-and-Under National Championship
[USA CURLING, EAGAN, MN, August 30, 2023] — We are pleased to announce that the 2024 USA Curling Five-and-Under National Championship will be held at the Chaska Curling Center in Chaska, MN, from April 24-28, 2024.
This championship, open to those who have played the sport for less than five years and are 21 years of age or older, brings together teams from across the country to compete for a national title. Teams earn berths in the Five-and-Under Nationals through qualifying bonspiels across the country. Each year, the host club is also awarded one berth to round out the 24-team field.
“Since our facility opened in December of 2015, we’ve introduced thousands of people to curling for the first time,” remarked Chaska Curling Center Manager and Olympian Jeff Isaacson. “Bringing some of the sport’s newest competitors together for a national championship is something we’re excited to do, and we’re sure the players will enjoy their time on and off the ice.”
After learning about the proposed new USA Curling Membership Model, Isaacson is looking forward to bringing Chaska back into the USA Curling fold after a post-COVID absence from the organization.
“The Five-and-Under Nationals is a perfect fit for the Chaska Curling Center,” added USA Curling CEO Dean Gemmell. “The facility and its leadership have shown the value that a modern, accessible curling center can bring to a community, and it will be great for our newest competitors to experience it.”
Teams in the Five-and-Under Nationals can include any combination of players, regardless of gender identity. More information about qualifying events and procedures can be found on USA Curling’s website.
